To fix the newton ring problem when do ha solar imging!

this is because the sensor and the ha-filter is not parrallel.

a T2 Tilt-Adjuster can help to solve this problem.

Alternatively, you can defocus the image till the solar details disappear and capture a flat which you can then process in Registax. This method works better when you have a short f.ratio. The tilt adapter can cause differential focusing at shorter f.ratios, especially if you require a large tilt to remove the rings, although it is fine for close up work. To see how effective the defocusing can be, see my images under "CaK and Ha images - 24 Nov".

Those vertical lines looks more like sensor "noise" that would show up always on flat frames - not related to tilting the camera. There are also on this Moon http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/21/z1q5.jpg from second thread.

If the camera would have strong Newton rings from Micron cover glass then they would be easily visible and not fixable by tilting. Non-paralel caused rins would be much weaker, but also "circular" :)

another way to solve it is take a flat frame and remove it in software.

Nex FirCapture 2.5.02 beta has an improved internal flat which is very efficient while you don't aim to another place. In that later case redo it !

I have been doing solar imaging for a number of years. The Newton ring issue is real and a pain, and is unpredictable with many theories re: its genesis, etc. I have purchased 5-6 video imaging cameras, and whether they are expensive or cheap it doesn't seem to matter.

I have a TeleVue Pronto for full disc imaging and I have never had Newton's rings with ANY of the cameras.

However, my TV 102 has it with EVERY camera I have tried.

These rings are a nuisance in and of themselves just by the virtue of being there. I hate seeing them visually, and yes you can process them gone, but it is less than aesthetically appealing.

My answer has been solved with the T2 tilter for my ASI 120mm. It works like a charm, and at ~ $38 USA is well worth it for me.

Thus changing the imaging angle against the plane of the telescope lens has fixed the issue. And yes, I am smiling much for that.

Hello there the video shows a picture of part of the Sun and is by Wise Imaging, I do not know how to add a link as I am using an Apple iPad. So the best I can do is suggest you go onto YouTube site and search for Wise Imaging, I think there is only one video by them/ him !!! The video goes from start to finish explaining data acquisition to processing.

Another solution is the use of a wedge prism or an Atmospheric Dispersion Corrector. I mostly use a 2 degrees wedge prism and no Newton Rings at all.
