I’ve been using the ASI120MM-S as a guide camera in PHD2 for a number of years but never bothered to review the gain setting for improved guide Star selection and SNR and secondly more importantly for Multistar guiding
My gain setting in PHD2 Camera tab has always been 95.
From what I’ve read in PHD2 this parameter is a percentage of the overall Gain range for your camera ( the gain range from the ZWO chart on this camera is 0 to 100 ) What is the optimum gain range ??
Is there any advantage in lowering this value (percentage ) to say 50 of 60 to improve SNR ( Unity gain for the 129MM-S is 29 from the XWO chart )
I welcome any advice on the above
