Tried all of the support options, Camera not responding

I have been working through all of the various suggested support options here and my ASI120MC still does not perform reliably if at all. Crashes, locks up all of the different applications when trying to use it. SharpCap2, Fire Capture 2.2 and 2.3 beta, PHD, PHD2, it even has problems skipping dropping and locking up the regular WDM web camera functions with the standard USB Webcam app. Same results on 3 different machines. All are multicore, 64 bit machines with 8 or more gigabytes of PC1600 or higher RAM. 2 desktops & 1 Notebook. Same crash-o-matic quick lock up of the camera app behaviors on all three systems.

Yes I have downloaded and installed all of the drivers and SDK from here to no avail!

I have had enough head aches and ruined solar system imaging sessions, where do I return this thing? I'll stick with my TIS 618 monochrome doing LRGB for now (it runs flawlessly on all systems @ 60fps) until I can find a better OSC for doing quick planet and lunar shots with. To whom and where do I send this thing to for a full refund?

I think maybe it related to the hardware if you tried so many method.

ASI cameras are very easy to use but there maybe fault one cause this problem.

where did you buy this camera? I suggest you can ask for a exchange

I purchased the camera from High Point Scientific on October 22nd, I have contacted them on the issue but as of yet, a couple of days later, I still have heard nothing back from them on the matter. You are more than likely correct on the issue being a hardware failure - in the camera - 2 of the systems were AMD based systems and one was an Intel I-5 based system, the failures were pretty much consistently the same on all 3 systems.

I anticipated similar problems as it is effectively a webcam and should be treated as such in its setup.

After installing drivers for the cam and it is showing in 'Device Manager' with no problems then you need to setup Sharpcap to be able to access it fully.

Right click on your sharpcap shortcut, select properties and click on the 'Compatibility' tab. In there you need to tick 'run as administrator'. Apply these settings and try it again. If you're still having problems go back to the 'Compatibilty' tab and tick 'Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (Service pack 3)'

You should be fine now.

As a computer technician I see this all of the time with webcams. Nearly every case that a webcam won't work it will be a problem with the computer, not the webcam.
