I attempted first light with my brand new ASIAir Plus last night and failed. I have a Celestron CGX mount, so I knew going in how to connect it. I got through the polar alignment- a very cool feature- and was then setting up to image.
I selected Best Tonight feature and then selected M20. The graph on the Best Tonight page showed that M20 was almost directly overhead, so I was surprised when I clicked "goto" that it slewed the scope almost parallel with the ground.
So then I started over. Turned off the mount, turned off the ASIAir Plus, and then went from scratch. By the time I got to the point to slew to M20, the moon was up full. I clicked on "best tonight" and selected M20 again, and this time it slewed below the horizon. I then selected the Moon, which was directly overhead at this point, and it said "can't slew to object because it is below the horizon".
Frustrated and freezing (it was 28F, or -2C), I gave up. Does anyone have any idea what went wrong? I'm using a Galaxy S22 Ultra phone, and I believe the mount uploaded all of the location information from the ASIAir, which got it form the phone. I'm at a loss.
