I have a new 2600M and it works fine (although is VERY fussy about USB compared to my QSI, SBIG, and Moravian cameras) with the native drivers in NINA. The latest ASCOM drivers simply will not cool the cooler (remains at ambient and zero power) regardless of what I ask it to do in both NINA and SGP. Anyone know what the issue is? I would add that I have been imaging with many brands an models of cameras for almost 30 years....
Oh, and before you suggest it, yes, the fan is running, yes, it is getting 13.8 VDC power and it does cool just fine with the native driver in NINA. It ONLY shows the problem with the ASCOM driver.
A post on the SGP forum seems to be saying that you need to manually step the setpoint down by a few degrees from ambient over time or the cooler will not respond. That is interesting because that is basically what the native driver does in NINA but it does beg the question why the ASCOM driver cannot do the same thing! 😩
Can now confirm that the above was the issue. If one asks for too large a delta, the ASCOM cooler will not respond and just stays at zero power. No warning message (there should at least be that, IMHO) and it does not automatically ramp like the native driver does in NINA. Maybe this was somewhere in the instructions but it ought to be built in, otherwise one has to manually cool the camera each time which defeats some of the automation that would otherwise be possible.
AstroGarden Hi, could you tell us the version of the ASCOM platform and the ASCOM driver you installed? and the temp settings you set. Thank you.
