Hi,
Last night I set up my rig to do some investigations around tilt, curvature, and coma. I setup the ASIair Pro as normal using the USB stick. My rig consisted of a TS 61mmEDPH2 scope with the rest of it ZWO centric that include the EAF, 7-position EFW, 2600MM Pro camera, 290MM Mini guide camera, 30 mm f/4 guide scope and the ASIair Pro.
My plan was to take 5 x 30s subs of a rich star field, remove the USB stick, examine the files using CCDInspector, add a spacer to adjust back focus, refocus the camera, begin guiding and take another 5 x 30 subs at the new back focus distance. Repeat until I was satisfied with the results.
I did 4 of these iterations and finally stopped as I realized I had a problem.
First Iteration: Ran perfectly and had 5 good subs to input into CCDInspector.
Second iteration: Everything ran beautifully. When I tried to add the 5 files to CCDInspector I got an error in CCDI that there was a problem (no specific reason) reading the last file. I figured the file is corrupt and input the 4 good ones. I got the same error. I didn't notice when I first entered the files, I thought there were 5 showing when in reality there were 4. Results, only 4 of 5 files show on my computer with one NG due to a read error leaving me with 3 useable files.
I shutdown the ASIair Pro prior to the 3rd iteration and ran the iteration after a fresh restart.
Third Iteration: Again everything ran beautifully. I specifically watched each of the 5 exposures and saw the images on the ASIair Pro. When I went to add the files to CCD Inspector, only 2 of the 5 files were visible in my computer and when I loaded them into CCDI, the same read error occurred on the last file. Results of 2 of 5 runs show on my computer and one is NG because of a read error.
I shut everything down and just started over prior to the 4th iteration.
Fourth Iteration: Again, everything ran beautifully. I once again watched each run to be sure all 5 runs happened. When I went inside to examine the files, my computer showed one file for that set of 5. I was able to load that file into CCDI.
What happened to my files?
I checked for files on the USB using "image management" and saw 5 files for Iteration 1, 4 for iteration 2, 2 for iteration 3 and 1 for iteration 4. They are not located under any of the other folders on the USB stick. I checked the SD card on the ASIair Pro and found nothing. I examined the logs for each of the iterations. They show all 5 runs completed successfully for each of the 4 iterations. I've attached the logs for those runs. I plugged the USB stick into both a Mac and Windows computer and couldn't find the missing files. I've attached a screen shot of the folder containing the file. I don't know how to do a screen shot of the ASIair Pro but I assure you its identical to the that of the Mac screen shot.
Where are my files? Can they be restored? I searched this topic and found one discussion post from Jan 2022 that described a similar problem but there were no responses. This is probably user error but I've run successfully with the ASIAIR Pro for about 6 months without issue. I'm going to keep searching for a solution but I really am lost on what else I can do.
Thank you very much,
Jay
PS. I cannot upload neither the log from last night nor the screen shot of the files on the Mac due to an error, "OOPS! Something went wrong. Please reload the page and try again. I did this and the error repeated.
