The best I could do before the clouds closed in - one of these days I'll be able to say, "Brilliant seeing - everything went perfectly!" : The moons are Io and Callisto. You can tell Callisto is a "dark" moon by the difference in brightness. ;) Note the prominent bright area below the NEB. Captured at 21.45 at prime focus with the C8 and ZWO ASI120MM. 500 frames stacked, drizzle 1.5x. I was shooting through some high cloud with shutter at 65ms, gain 11.
congratulations you captured jupiter :)
the gain is too low and exposure too high.
you can adjust the gain to 50-60 to get a faster speed
so you can stack 5000 frames next time
Thanks Sam. Yes, it was the seeing conditions that were the problem - too much cloud dimming the image, hence the high exposure. In this instance the image was still too dim with lower exposure and high gain. Hopefully next time the conditions will be better.
