I recently aquired the asi120mm camera and have had some issues geting it setup. The first night out I think I got the firecapture bugs worked out but now I seem to have static/noise on the screen when using phd. It seems to work fine when connected to my desktop Vista 32bit but when using it on my laptop Win7 64 it shows up. The attached picture is what I see even with the lenscap on. Any ideas?

do you use the ASCOM driver or WDM driver?

you can try start at a short exposure like 10ms

I think this is because the Anti collumn noise didn't start because of long exposure like 1s

I use the wdm, I tried the ascom after you replied and it's just a black screen. I've changed the exposure many times and it just increases or decreases the speed of the "noise" or whatever it is I'm seeing.

As a side note, when I connect the supplied "fisheye" lens it works fine and the noise is gone untill I put a cap over the lens

I got it.

that's because PHD stretch the histogram to find a star automatically

so you will see the back groud noise very clearly when there is no star
