The plate solver should use a crop from the center of the image for FOV > 33° to solve the plate. For panoramic shots with wide-angle lenses, I always have to switch to the Guide Camera for the PA and GoTo.
I know that the requirement for an ROI (region of interest) has been asked here several times. My suggestion to enable plate solving of wide field using ROI would be a further incentive to implement ROI.
