I have the HEM44EC, which is essentially the same mount. I followed Chen's directions a couple of nights ago, and had a flawless meridian flip. My settings for AA were to stop the mount 5 minutes prior to the flip and resume 5 minutes later. I was taking 5 minute subs, so the AA actually stopped tracking 7 minutes prior because it was smart enough to know allowing another 5 minute sub would conflict. Nice!
You can set the mount. According to the manual:
5.4.8. Meridian Treatment
This function tells the mount what to do when it tracks past the meridian. You can tell the mount if it needs a meridian flip and when to do it.
“Set Position Limit” will tell the mount when to stop tracking or to do a meridian flip. The limit can be set at from 0° to 15° (60 minutes) pass meridian.
“Set Behavior” will determine if the mount will stop tracking or perform a meridian flip at the set position limit.
I set the mount to stop tracking at 0 degrees, which is inside the 5 minutes where AA will stop. I also have the mount set to flip. That way, AA will stop tracking for 10 minutes (or more, depending on the length of your subs and how long it takes guiding to settle after the flip). This is more than enough time for the mount to understand it's past the meridian, then perform a flip.
