Guiding a meade mount via handset with ASI120mm camera

Hi all, and happy new year

I am wanting to buy anASI120mm camera for guiding purposes only, at the moment I guide using just a USB cable from camera to laptop, and the mount is connected through a serial cable to the laptop.

Because it is an old meade LX90 there is no ST4 port so guiding is done through handset and it works very very well with the newer pulse guide commands.

My question is is I but one of these ASI cameras can I still guide the same way, with just a USB cable from camera to laptop, and with PHD connect camera, and connect mount using my existing ascom meade mount driver, I ask because on ZWoptical website it only gives instructions for guiding using the ST4 port, but I do not want to use this at all.

Any thoughts, assuming any of what I just said makes sense.....it does to me anyway

So long as PhD sees the asi it should work ...

I'll dig my laptop out later to see if it recognises it
