polar alignment from the balcony without being able to see north

hello everyone i am new to chat, with the beta version of asi air plus you can do an alignment from the balcony in a southerly direction without seeing the polar? mount azeq5 thank you.

Yes you can. I too have telescope on balcony facing only south and west. Before that feature I had to rely on drift alignment. Very time consuming.

First you have to toggle all sky polar align in the experimental features menu and then follow the instructions in PA menu. You need clear view to the south and cca 60 degrees east or west from south. You start near south and then rotate 3 times by approximately 20 degrees in chosen direction(the one you have visible) and adjust the alignment. I do this procedure twice for better accuracy. It works great.

Hello Mary,

in the information tab “i” “All-Sky Polar Align” must be activated. Then it will work like a charme. Everything else is like astrosatch mentioned.
