ZWO EAF FW Updater File Parse Error message

I get this when I try to run the updater. What am I doing wrong?

Yes. If you take the time to read the documentation the FW Updater is intended to be used to update the firmware of ZWO products with motors.

The updater scans and finds the model of the product and firmware version before you are allowed to choose the .hex file to use to flash the decice.

The updater also requires an older version of some Microsoft files which I installed per the documentation afterwhich the updater now gets to this point.

So not wow, just standard procedure. But I'm disappointed that the update is not working as I also have another ZWO EFW and a couple of ZWO EAF to update.

Thanks for the answer of w7ay. This tool can upgrade the firmware of both EAF and EFW. To avoid burning the wrong firmware, please unplug all other devices while upgrading the firmware, leaving only the devices to be upgraded on the computer. This can avoid mistakes. Thank you.

You have selected the wrong device to be updated, as I have noted.

Select the EAF instead of the EFW in the first ("Devices") drop down menu.

Even better, connect the computer directly to the EAF instead of to a hub that includes other devices (like the EFW), to avoid bricking your EFW.

You are right. I did not realize the update was only for the focuser, sorry! Plugged into the 5V EAF and it worked just fine, on to the 12V EAF.

Georgino Hello Georgino,
I tried to upgrade the EAF firmware on my computer and it didn't go wrong.
But I can offer a few tips that I hope will help you:

(1) Create a new folder called update under disk D. Then put all the files into this folder. Then try to upgrade the firmware.
(2) Only one EAF is connected during the upgrade and connect the computer directly to the EAF.

Hy, I have a similar problem the firmware update as up. I have 12V type of ZWO EAF. Connected just one EAF to the PC but got a message : EF Device create handle failed!
Please any advice.

Now we try update to MAC and Ubuntu 18.04 and 22.04 system. It was nut succesfull.
On Ubuntu we got 'permission error' runnig with sudo. On MAC we got similar error forget to take notes.
