bauer100 but I get dropped connections and its difficult to get it reconnected.
That is very odd.
If you have good wired connection between the ASIAIR and your extender, you should also have good connection to the directly wired ASIAIR -- WiFi has nothing to do with ASIAIR; that is why we use direct connection. Any dropped WiFI would be between your tablet and your home network (which you can check by trying to use a web browser).
Check the two LEDs on the ASIAIR's LAN connector (RJ45). Normally, one is green and the other is off, amber, or green.
The green one should be lit all the time. Normally it will blink quite constantly to show activity on the part of the LAN that you are connected to (even if the traffic is not meant for the ASIAIR).
The other one is off if your connection is the ancient 10 Mbps Ethernet, Green means 100 Mbps and Amber means 1Gbps. If your cable is good, the ASIAIR should link at 1 GBps (Amber).
After the ASIAIR has finished booting (with second and third generation ASIAIR -- a beep tone), the Green LED should flash , and the other LED should be Amber solidly.
If you are not seeing this, you do not have a link between the ASIAIR and the extender. Get that debugged first before proceeding. You can temporarily bring the ASIAIR closer to the extender and use a shorter Cat6 cable to see if you can establish link.
If the Status LED are correct, you can check the router table to look for the ASIAIR. If you can reach the ASIAIR WiFI (either through the ASIAIR hotspot, or through LAN), you can also find its IP address in "Wired Ethernet" of ASIAIR Settings window:

At this point, the ASIAIR is automatically connected to your home network. There is no further action needed to switch it in ASIAIR. The entire point of doing all this is to avoid using WiFi on ASIAIR.
You should be able to connect your tablet to your home network, and the ASIAIR app should then find the ASIAIR device.
