mdl01 Is there a limit on how many can operate in proximity?
By "direct," I take it that you mean that you are connecting to the ASIAIR WiFi hotspot, and not through LAN.
Each ASIAIR can only talk to up to two tablets.
However, I have been able to select between three simultaneously active ASIAIR boxes -- two second generation ASIAIR that are hard wired to the LAN, with a first generation ASIAIR that is the only one on WiFi (station mode).
I don't think WiFi/LAN matters, though. However, if the ones that are hard-wired are third generation ASIAIRs, you can remove the antenna (remove the antenna only while the unit is powered down) and terminate it with a 50Ω SMA terminator to prevent it from interfering with the one that actually uses WiFi.
Be sure it is a 50Ω terminator and not a short. You can get them even through Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0719C1T99 .
Additionally, if you are on an iPad, also check to make sure to turn off Auto Join in the iPad's WiFI Settings for all the ASIAIR hotspots' SSID. This will prevent the iPad from auto connecting to the wrong ASIAIR (the one with the strongest signal) when the WiFi signal becomes weak. Just manually select the ASIAIR that you want to connect to each time.
