Last night my ASIAir Pro died. It was less than two years old. When I plugged it in to my 12V power supply, smoke and fire started to pour out of the vents and there was a burning smell. I switched off immediately. When I opened the case, there was a lot of scorching on the of the chips.
I presume that there must hav been a short somewhere, but it is disappointing as I will now have to stop observing until I can get a replace unit.
Has anyone else had the same problem. It could have given rise to more problems, had this occured when I wasn't next to it. There was actual frames and sparks!
The conditions at the time were cool and clear with low humidity. Ands it happened in an enclosed observatory.
To ZWO: is it out of warranty?
