I was able to get a pretty good image. I had clouds and wind early, but the weather settled down when totality came around. I wanted to use SharpCap for this as the ASIAIR does not have a good way of taking single images that have a varying short exposure. But SharpCap gave me complete garbage so I downloaded and installed ASIStudio and tried ASICap. That was given me a lot of trouble as well. It would not begin doing the continuous previewing of objects. No frames were being displayed so I dropped everything for a while. When I went back and tried again, ASICAP started working properly. I will have to try SharpCap again and see if I can figure out what it does not like.

I used the ASIAir with my F5 8" Newtonian but my view was initially obscured by trees and clouds so wasn't expecting anything great. It was already eclipsed at moon rise while it was still quite light.
I was trying to use video mode to centre and focus the image but the max resolution of 1080p isn't nearly enough to show the full disc with my 294. Back in preview mode the coarse exposure presets meant I had to fiddle with the gain to try to get a decent picture.

That is the problem with the ASIAIR. If you have a camera that has a higher resolution than 1080P, there is no good way to get the entire Moon or Sun in. Probably they are limiting it as higher video resolution would probably slow things down quite a bit. What they need is the ability to enter specific exposure settings in Preview and that would solve it. That is why I had to resort to ASICap. You have the ability to adjust the exposure on a greater range.
