ZWO Asiar pro stopped tracking

My VRX mount has worked perfectly with the new 2.0 just as it did before the update. I was getting under 1.00 arc seconds on both RA and dec usually under 1.00 total. Last night it started guiding with 3.00 to 70.00 arc seconds horrible tracking. I did PA and had 0.02 on both east west north south readings incredible right? Well it didn’t help one bit I actually broke down the scope to check that it was still level and it was . After restarting same can’t track for crap so I started playing with the tracking settings moved it higher 10,000 down to 100 on all 3 RA-dec and total. No change it keeps saying star did not move enough no matter where the #s are higher or lower. I have been using this same set up for 3, years first time I can’t figure out what is going on.Spent entire perfectly clear night trying to track with no results so frustrating considering it was working perfectly for 3 hrs then it started not tracking properly.!

Maddawg Tonight I'm having the same issue with guiding and v.2. I'm using the same gear and same settings I have used for over a year, but tonight it will not calibrate much less guide. Calibration starts fine with West steps. When it switches to East steps, the mount keeps going West! I can't even post my log. I am unable to login to the account. I'm so close to getting rid of the ASIAir (pro in my case). I am sick of it's continued spontaneous breakdowns.

Couple of things:

guiding calibration is best done near the celestial equator - if you do it near the NCP or SCP you will get that message about the star not moving enough
check your guiding camera for hot pixels - if there are, AA could have tried to use it for calibration

When you do the guiding calibration do you see the stars moving?

enaiman yes.I uninstalled the app set my numbers back to my original settings and it works again.🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🙂

If your mount is not balanced properly you will get bad guiding. You must balance the mount precisely in ra and in dec. I know it’s a pain, but balancing again after you get to the target may be necessary also. You have to loosen the clutch in ra, balance, being very careful to put it pointed back very close to where it was, then do the same in dec. At that point, don’t fo another go to for the target. Hit plate solve, and it will give you the option to solve and go to the target.

Rho2017 Same thing happened to me (the movement will go only one way even if it was supposed to change direction). Changed the area of the sky, rebooted the mount, the AA and it was still doing the same thing.

Calibration went back to normal after I did a GoTo; previously I was slewing to the area where I wanted to calibrate.

Now that I am thinking about it, the difference before a GoTo and after is the Tracking being turned ON automatically. I am not aware that tracking OFF would have such an effect on calibration; that could be either intended behaviour or a bug.
I will wait for the next clear night and do some calibration tests with tracking on then off to see if it happens again or not.

enaiman In my case, everything I did was GoTo, Helix Nebula and M33. Another strange thing last night was ASIAir took 5+ attempts to center the targets. I wish you the best on your next clear night. I haven't decided when I'll go out again. Who knows, it may be with a MINI-PC and no more ASIAir. Then again, N.I.N.A. caused me much grief prior to getting the ASIAir, so ... TBD .

Maddawg I did that last night after I quit for the night. I'll check the forecast for tonight. After I reinstalled the app (android), it uses 1.39GB whereas before it was 2.4GB. That's a significant difference. Thanks for the update!

Rho2017 I reinstalled the app and tried again tonight. PA simply did not work. After about an hour I gave up. It wasn't worth checking guiding without a decent polar alignment.

I haven't seen any input from ZWO concerning the v.2 issues. I suggest anyone having any kind of problems, especially those that receive no response from ZWO, send a quick e-mail to the vendor from which they purchase the ZWO item. The vendors need to know about the problems. Maybe if enough people let them know, the vendors will inform their ZWO representatives.

Walf@ZWO I use all sky. With the trees that is my only option. I have tried to upload a log file, but the app sends me to the login page. I tried to create an account, but the app indicated the e-mail is already registered. When I try the forgot password link and enter the e-mail, I get a verification code. When I enter the code, the app says my e-mail is invalid. It thinks I am entering an e-mail address when I enter the validation code.
