ASIAir and stuck mount

Hi there
I use an ioptron CEM40 mount controlled by ASIAir Pro with latest firmware. Each night I image I can go to a target and get good guiding below 0.5 arc secs and image capture goes well on the first target. Then if I try to go to a new target or return the mount to home position nothing happens. I have to go out and power cycle the mount and ASIAir and reconnect to get any control. I am not going to home or shutting down the ASIAir as part of the auto run. Any ideas please? Thanks

@ZWO do you have any ideas please? I have tried connecting my hand controller for the mount in case that made a difference but it’s still got the problem. I have found that if I disconnect the mount in the asiair app and reconnect it I can then control the mount again. How can I get it to NOT require a reconnect or restart? Thanks.

By the latest firmware I assume you mean app v2.0 and firmware v10.46 (or possibly they released an update to that).

I also have a CEM40. I wish I got the guiding you are getting. There has been an ongoing issue with the CEM40 and GEM45 regarding connecting to the ASIAIR. A number of us require inserting a USB hub between the ASIAIR and the CEM40 USB 2.0 "B" port in order to get the mount to be recognized. Or some have connected via their camera USB 2.0 port. I don't know if that affects you or not. I am still on v1.9 and I only got the error you mention once. It might have been accidental on my part as I switched the camera from the ASIAIR to my laptop. When I was finished with my imaging I attempted to {Home} the mount. Nothing happened. I was forced to use the hand controller to perform the {Home} operation.

Did you notice whether the mount Off/On button on the Mount screen on the ASIAIR was still "On" and it said it was still connected? There seems to be a number of bugs with the latest version. I am delaying upgrading until they fix some of these. I hope ZWO has some answers.

Yes I am on very latest V2 and firmware. I have the first 2019 CEM40 so I believe it doesn’t need the USB hub like the newer models do but that may be worth a try as sometimes unplugging and replugging the mount USB cable helps to solve the issue. My guiding is good when working but sometimes I have to go back to home then go 30 degrees or so and get guiding working before I get the hood guiding. It seems to get better as the session goes on. I haven’t even tried the new Plan mode in the ASIAir as I’m assuming it would fail on second target. It’s a real shame ZWO can’t get the CEM40 working properly as it’s a great app to use. I didn’t want to use a Windows laptop as driver issues seem to plague a lot of people. I also like the ability to go inside and keep warm while the imaging session continues. Thanks.
