Noise is from FireCapture (the noise indicator). Those are 30% out of 3000 fames. I didn't do more frames for the shorter ones in this comparison.

Very interesting experiment. I tried different exposure/gain settings and I usually keep a gain of 60% (no gamma).

I did the same experiment at day time with a ruler to avoid atmospheric turbulence with a former camera.

Your images (which are fine !) should help us to choose the better ratio.

In general it's good to have high histogram fill. 60% isn't low but for bright filters I give >> 80% (and lower gain).
