I was under the impression that the 'hold for 5 second reset button' rolled back the AA+ firmware to the 'clean' out of the box version for recovery purposes. However, I ran across this statement in the AA+ manual posted here:
https://www.yuque.com/zwopkb/air_plus/lzdnvz
The ASIAIR Plus Os resides on the eMMC internal flash card and has diagnostic / self-healing capabilities. Should these fail, a reset Firmware function is available from the "i" About menu, this will restore FW to factory version.
Should you feel the need to do so, before reconnecting to ASIAIR PLUS, unisntall the ASIAIR App from your device, and proceed with a clean install of the last version.
Upon connection and FW upgrade, you may be required to re-activate your ASIAIR PLUS.
If this is the case, it appears the the AA+ reset button has nothing to do with firmware recovery and only attempts to reset the wifi parameters described here:
Issues with Wi-Fi can be corrected by pressing the RESET button and releasing it after the light flashes. The Wi-Fi hotspot, password and the details for station mode will be reset after 5 seconds.
Could someone at zwo familiar with the AA+ 'reset button' procedure please confirm its function and how to use it?
I understand that there is a short and long press(5sec) 'function' but would like clarification between the 2 and whether the unit is powered up or not when performing the 'wifi' reset. For example the statement says to wait for a flash of the wifi LED but wouldn't the wifi LED already be flashing during normal powered up operation?
Finally, if you are UNABLE to connect to your AA+ with the asiair app, how are you supposed to reset the firmware??
Although my unit is currently functioning properly, 2 fellow CN users with AA+ wifi setting issues have confirmed that the wifi reset button is NOT functioning as advertised with the current firmware release posted here:
https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/857372-how-to-remove-saved-wifi-from-asiarplus/
In summary, it appears that although the 'hotspot' parameters are reset, if you are configured to use 'station mode' the 5 second reset button does NOT reset these parameters.
Please advise if this is normal behavior or a BUG in current firmware release?
Thx....
