Star refraction lines

Hi folks,

Please take a look at the attached file and the odd refractions from a nearby bright star. The image is IC443, ₅₀ lights @ 60s / 120 gain with darks and flats. This was slightly processed in Affinity, however I stopped due to the diffraction lights.

Equipment:
Telescope: Skywatcher 120ED APO / .77 reducer-flattener
Mount: Skywatcher EQ 6r Pro
Camera: ASI294 MC Pro
Guided with a Williams optics 61 / ASI 290MM / PHD2

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at your image reminds me of a similar problem i had in my Case it turned out to be condensation on cameras sensor protection window.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I believe you could be correct. I have never been able to replicate the refraction lines after that one night of imaging, which is obviously a good thing. If this was moisture it must have evaporated / dissipated on it's own.

Glad got it sorted out.you can buy a small heater ring that fits around camera sensor housing from zwo. I have never used one but it would probably keep problem from reacuring.
