Last night I was trying to image M42-43 using ASILive in ASIStudio 1.8.6 with the ASI462MC camera. It kept saying 'Not enough stars' and it would say that the number of stars were 4 to 7. There were definitely more stars on the screen than that. I tried various exposure settings from .2 sec to 5 sec, but the same message would pop up. Finally I rotated the camera in the the focussed and that helped somewhat, but it would still reject more images than the ones that it was able to stack. The scope was an 8-inch, F5, Newtonian, on an EQ mount. How many stars need to be in the frame in order for it to be able to stack?
