Your technique on how to eliminate Newton's rings will assist all who have encountered this problem, I applaud you !!
There are many suggestions on how to eliminate the effect but none give a better solution than your idea.
I managed to capture a single AVI and have done exactly as your tutorial explains, the rings are almost gone but I think that maybe if I had orientated the camera differently I may have a had 100% success, what I find strange is that I had the colour version of this camera - in Sharpcap2 and I did not have any Newton's rings whatsoever?
I had the camera in "mono mode".
Finally: Comparing AVI's of the ASI120MM and the ASI120MC ( in mono mode) there is no difference in the image quality.
