Connecting guide camera to main camera USB 2.0 Hub vs ASIAIR USB 2.0 port??

I am just curious whether there is a documented preference of whether it is better to connect my guide camera (ASI290mm mini) to my main camera (ASI294MC Pro) rather than to a USB2 port on the ASIAir Plus? Electrically and logically it should be a wash, but I am still learning some of the finer points of this hardware so I thought I'd ask for the wisdom of those who have Gone Before.

At the moment I have it connected to the camera port, with the reasoning that it is a shorter piece of cable, and that it should reduce any chances of a longer cable pulling itself loose during the night.

Thoughts/opinions? References? Thanks!

I think it is better to connect a guide camera to the main camera USB hub (assuming you have a separate 12v power connection to the main camera)
I had a lot of issues with guide camera disconnects when connected directly to the ASI air Pro usb ports. There is a max total power draw on the usb ports so better to keep guide camera connection to camera
Having said all that, I'm still having random disconnects of my ASI 178mm guide camera despite changing cables etc.
I'll be moving to a dedicated PC set up soon. I love the ease of the ASI Air but it's just too flaky to be trusted
