Replacement Antenna for Air Plus

I have read that there are replacement antennas available that extend the range of the Air Plus' wifi signal. Does anyone know of a source for them. I am looking for a simple replacement and don't want to modify the Air Plus in any way.

Antennas are passive devices.

An antenna gets its gain through directivity. I.e., to be stronger in one direction, it has to be weaker in other directions (conservation of energy).

You can use a higher gain antenna only if it is stationary. If the antenna is moving during the night, higher gain (thus higher directivity) will make the problem worse.

I have bought a directional wifi antenna from local store. Just googled and bought. It must be such which have one meter or longer antenna cable so that you can attach the antenna itself on to tripod or such non-movable base. Antenna must be pointed on to device or location of device which is receiving the signal. Even very basic directional antenna gives you multiple times longer distances than the original omnidirectional one.

I've tried a few, but I have noticed that once you remove the original one it seems to stop working correctly upon install. It's almost like the central connection point is barely the right size.

Also, make certain stock antenna never points directly at the IPad/Android, that is at its weakest. Always have it perpendicular.

Check that the external antenna cable has similar connector than the original one. I have seen that antenna cable has different male/female order. If so, you need an small reversing adapter, available in most antenna shops, to connect the external antenna.
