Yes.
Notice that the ASIAIR always sweep from some high EAF step count whenever it tries to measure the U curve.
The ASIAIR first drives the EAF to a high step count, and sweep the count downwards. After that the ASIAIR again set the EAF to a high step count, and sweep downwards to the target EAF step location. Both times, the backlash would have cleared by the time the EAF is swept past its backlash.
The backlash still exists, it just cancels itself out.
