The folks at ZWO tech suggested I update the firmware of my EAF to the latest 3.3.7... to solve an issue I am having whereby autofocus completes its calculations but I am getting donut holes for stars. Has anyone gotten this update and how is it possible for the EAF stepper to provide more steps than what the mechanics allow. I'm confused so please help if anyone can shed light on this.
JTSAN What is the telescope do you have? and can you take some screenshots of the AF process and V curve? BTW, how many steps did you set in the AF settings?
My setup is a C8 on a EQ6 mount with the EAF, AirPlus, ASI 2600 mc camera, ASI 120 mini guide scope. I have attached the phots you requested.
Your auto-focus step size is too small, that’s why the V-curve is not there. Increase the step size to 30 and use 10 steps and see if the auto-focus routine develops a v-curve. You must be close to focus before you start the auto focus or it cannot find a solution.
I raise the step size several times and started imaging at step size 100. Very little change to V curve. I had success with capture and focus, but look at V curve below.
