Raising Height of AM5

Hi,

Last night when M101 was about to transit, the camera at the end of my 5" refractor got stopped by the tripod leg. I have the AM5 on the PE200 pier and the TC-40 tripod,

I'd like to prevent this from happening again. Is it possible to put two PE200 pier extensions together without creating instabilities? Or, I could get either a portable pier instead of the TC-40, or I could look into a permanent pier for my backyard.

What solution makes the most sense to increase the distance between the camera and the tripod legs?
