That is NOT the correct Park position. Yes of course I've tried that button. I've been trying that button for 2 years now and it DOES NOT DO THE RIGHT THING.

Just FYI, I bought a Mach2GTO because of my frustrations with AM5. I'm selling the AM5 and cannot recommend this mount for any serious astroimaging. It cannot handle the most basic park functionality and I've wasted over 1000 hours of troubleshooting and near damage to my scope because of this. At this point the AM5 is more of a toy for people doing mobile imaging from time to time which is fine but if you want to have a dedicated setup in a shed or observatory the AM5 is not the right mount.

Why would you spend upwards of 1000 hours attempting to park it when there’s no capability of doing so??? That doesn’t make sense.

area51 I’m sure your new mount is great. And in no way am I trying to be snarky but isn’t it a bit of a stretch to compare a mount at about 6x the cost to the AM5?

That’s essentially comparing a Nissan Altima to a Bentley Flying Spur.

OMG, i just found out the AM5N doesn't have a park position. WTF? How am I supposed to park the scope tucked away in my remote observatory automatically?

Can't speak to the AM5N but the AM5 has a Park position. It just fails to tell (in my case) NINA that it is parked. We have been waiting a long time for this to be fixed!

I am joining this discussion group about adjusting the home position of the AM5 mount. I would also like to be able to adjust it but my asiair/mount application does not give me access to the "calibration" button of the home position. I have just updated the mount firmware (1.6.3) without success. Does anyone have an explanation? Then I am trying to find out if we can set limits to the movement of the mount in ascension and declination so as not to target areas of the sky hidden by buildings, etc ... Thank you for your help.

@ASIMount@ZWO Is there any update on this park position? This feature is critical for my remote observatory setup, as the current fixed park position prevents me from installing a dew shield on my C9.25 Edge HD.

w7ay Ok, why would it park in the Western position, my AM3 parks in the North position on my mount in the observatory. I've never had issues with the command park, for me It's HOME position.

David1515 Ok, I'm not understanding all this, I have AM3, which I'm able to send the command to HOME position, which actually sends the scope in park position, pointing due North. However, first I must position the scope in it's lowest horizontal position so I can close my roll off top. Then after I have closed the top, I sent the command Home position and the scope slews to the HOME position, which in my case is due North. The scope is in the upright position.
so what's difference between HOME AND PARK ? To me, it's the same thing. Excuse my ignorance if you may....LOL

MIXON Try not to confuse these two terms. When you use the hand control (HC) or software to send a Home command to an AM5, AM3, or AM5N mount then it slews to point North with what would be counterweight down (CWD) position on a conventional German Equatorial Mount (GEM). That is the manufacturer defined Home position for these mounts and many others. Home position is the traditional start of the polar alignment process for GEM users. The tip of your telescope tube should be rather high when the mount is in Home position.

Because Park position prepares the mount for activities like storage or observatory dome closing, it often will slew the telescope tube to a horizontal position to maximize vertical clearance.
