Shorter file names

It doesn’t seem possible to shorten file names in the ASIAIR app. Am I missing something?

Those names has standardised tags which are used to differentiate file types and thus if you shorten them, files meant for different purposes are not any more recognised. All that information is needed for processing the final picture.

I was under the impression the “fits” file header contained all the necessary information not the file name.

It is also there, but when you transfer files or choose them, you have to see it yourself visually, or you cannot do it. If filename is short and cryptic, you should open them one by one with a program capable to show you that information to find out where to put them. For example darks taken in different temperature and time and date should be able to put into appropriate folder. Easiest way is just choose them from folder list according the name and drag into appropriate folder in your storage drive.
