Android - does permission of "Camera" is required

I develop free and open-source OpenLiveStacker app: https://github.com/artyom-beilis/OpenLiveStacker

It currently supports ASI cameras via SDK and USB Video Class cameras.

I know that Usb Video Class cameras requires Camera permission on some devices.

I have a user that reported that ASI was connected only after he gave "Camera" permission to app.
Is it something known or not?

Additional questions, are there any ways to debug case when ASI camera is detected but SDK returns general error? It happens in some cases/some devices with ASICap as well.

Hi Artik,

The general error is returned by the sdk. Please check if the sdk you are using is the latest.
Our camera sdk does not call mobile cameras, so there is no need to apply for camera permission.

I'm using the SDK published here with important bug fix that prevented from it working under up-to-date android cameras.

The following returns general error:

ZwoCamera camera = new ZwoCamera(0);
ASIConstants.ASI_ERROR_CODE ret = camera.openCamera();

The ret.intVal is 16 and message is ASIConstants.ASI_ERROR_CODE.getErrorString(ret.intVal) gives string value "GENERAL ERROR", camera is ASI ZWO 120MC.
