EAF settings using the ZWOdashboard.

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help and point me in the right direction.
I am going to fit an EAF to my new scope. I need to set the zero and maximum positions and to do that I will need, I think it’s called, the ZWO dashboard. Anyone know where I can find it? Or if there is another way to set the travel limits for the EAF please help. I use only the ASIAIR plus to control everything.

Since you are posting this to the ASIAIR forum, I presume that you are using ASIAIR. You can change those two parameters from the ASIAIR's own Focuser Settings window:

If by zero, you mean the current position of the EAF, just tap on the "Current Position" text field in the Control box, and edit it. The EAF always assume 0 to be the minimum value (it cannot be changed for some braindead reason).

The max position is the "Limit" field further down in the Step Settings box.

When you are editing, make sure that the Current position is in between 0 and the Limit.

The only time you need to use ASIStudio to change EAF parameters is when you want to give the EAF a unique name (I do that because I have a separate EAF on my guide scope).

Hi and thanks for your reply.
Yes I’m using the ASIAIR plus. When I say the zero point I mean the position where the focus tube is fully in and the maximum is when the same focus tube is fully out, of course there should be a few millimetres at each position to ensure nothing reaches that travel extreme. Do I need the zwo dashboard to set both positions or can I do it on the focuser page as you say.

Then, just rack the drawtube completely inwards, and set the Current Position to 0. Next, extend the drawtube to its maximum length and set the Max Value to what is reported as Current Value. You now have the EAF position only allow movements between the two ends of the drawtube.

Depending on how you installed the EAF, the min/max and in/out could be reversed (i.e. min is the drawtube fully extended). Just write the direction, including the position that is approximately the focus, on a Gaffer tape and stick it on the EAF. There is also a Reverse toggle in the EAF settings to reverse the min/max and in/out directions.
