Skychart jumps around with compass enabled

When using skychart with compass enabled on a Pixel 6a with android 13 and in Apple IOS latest the sky charts position rapidly jumps around by large amounts when pointing at any objects in the sky.
In comparison for example stelarium and other applications that use a compass don't have this issue on the very same devices - so it's likely a software bug of some sort

You probably have to calibrate the compass on your device.
Most are done by waving the device in a figure 8 3-5 times. See your devices documentation for instuctions.

That's not it. Compass calibrated fine. Also as I stated Other sky apps work perfectly such as stellarium, etc.
Additional detail. The jumping only occurs at the default zoom level after object search . When zooming out it stops jumping. The degree of jitter is about half the field of view of my asi294mc box. And jumps several times a second when the phone is still
