Firware Upgrade Tool error

I am getting and error when I try to run the Firmware Update tool. Windows is telling me that the "side-by-side is incorrect" I have no idea what this means, since I only know Linux and Mac OS well.

I am running an ASI120MC in Bootcamp on my Macbook if that make any difference. I had no issue installing the driver, or getting FireCapture to run, although I did have to set the USB rate to 73 to get rid of some wavy lines in the preview/videos.

Is there any reason why I am getting this error trying to use the FW Tool?

you don't need to upgrade the firmware if you run windows though bootcamp

the error is because you need to install VS2008 SP1 redistribution package at first

Took my first video of Saturn last night with my ASI120MC.

Had no idea what I was really doing, but very pleased with the result, great little camera Looks much better that 90% of the stuff on youtube, nice seperation in the rings, etc...

I can't install the camera, purportedly because the firmware is wrong.

I can't update the firmware because "side-by-side configuration is incorrect". I have no idea what that means: Screen Shot 2014-08-05 at 08.34.19.png

I have a brand new 64 bit win7 pro sp1 installation in virtualbox. I have allocated 2 cpus, 4 GB ram, 100 GB disk and 64 MB video mem in virtual box. I have turned on the hypervisor and virtualization extensions. The USB ASI 120MM is hooked up with the VM.

All system updates are installed. Ascom 6.1.1 sp1 is installed. ASI120MM driver installed (not the -s version, I have usb2 camera). I installed .net 4.5.2 and Visual studio 2013 c++ redistributable. Internet explorer 11. I installed autostakkert 2, firecapture, adobe reader 11 and meade autostar suite.

Nothing else is installed on this machine.

What can I do to update firmware so I can talk to the camera?

Oh my. For this I bought my first windows license. What a POS OS.

Turns out that error means install visual c++ 2008 SP1 redistributable (Has to be sp1)!

Unfortunately that doesn't help me at all as the camera refuses to show up in the fwupgrade windows. Rescan does nothing.

How can I update the firmware?

For reference I can say that I downloaded PHD for mac and that worked without ANY configuration. So there is no USB, connection, camera broken or similar issue. Just windows that sucks. How do I get it to recognize the camera in windows?
