i have had a few times where my mount does not go back to the Home position after a Polar Alignment. I initially though the reason is that after PA, I failed to "Sync" the Air to the mount. A good friend of mine who has had a similar setup for nearly 5 years, tell me that he has never tried to Sync the air to the mount and has had no issue with the EQ6 returning to Home position. He says the ASI Air assumes the position at startup is Home. So as long as the mount and OTA are aligned due North prior to a PA,l all is good.
As a result, I would like to understand how critical is it (or not) to sync the Air to the mount at or before a PA. Does anyone have an opinion on whether the sync is important or not? Moreover, does anyone have any suggestions as to why the mount might not return to the Home position before a PA?
