Hi, all. I'm new here.
I just got my ASI120MC and tried it out. It gives a good image, but the image is not stable. It frequently produces fractured frames that have parts of the image in the wrong places, like an analog TV that has lost its vertical hold.
Along with this come USB anomalies such as other devices not responding, poor system performance, and eventually the computer locks up, becoming totally unresponsive. I have to shut it down with the power switch.
The computer is a Gateway (Acer) laptop model NV59, running 64-bit Windows 7 Home premium. The CPU is an Intel Pentium P6200 running at 2.13 GHz. It has 4Gb of memory.
It has only 4 built-in USB ports, so most of my equipment is connected via powered USB hubs. The symptoms are worst when connected through one or more of the hubs, but are still present when the ASI is connected directly to one of the laptop's USB ports. According to USBView, even the laptop's USB ports run through an internal hub, so there is no getting away from hubs entirely.
Do I have a defective camera, or is it just not compatible with my computer?
TIA
Keith
