No Newton's Rings ASI120MC

Hi'

Just to inform H~Alpha imagers:

I have the ZWO ASI120MC, using my Lunt LS35THa Deluxe there are no Newton's rings in the AVI captures.The software was Sharpcap2 and the camera was in "mono mode".

Please find enclosed the stacked image with a slight wavelet function.

Newton's rings only become a major problem when using a Barlow or Powermate. I can see them occasionally without a Barlow when using the ASI120MM with my SolarMax40 - but they are very feint. With a x2 Barlow they become very obvious and with a x2.5 Powermate in poor seeing they make the image unusable. A flat reduces the problem but will not totally solve it in poor seeing when they seem stronger. I also get a mild NR problem with my Lunt CaK filter plus Powermate but they can be easily removed with a flat. I have just bought a tilt-adapter so that might help solve the problem.

Hi Mike,

I now have an ASI120mm and can confirm that with this camera - I have Newton's ring's using the sane OTA as used at the start of my thread, and I am not using a barlow or powermate.
