I am in the process of connecting my imaging equipment using Ethernet network.
I have been able to run ASIair app on my M2 Mac quite easily.
Last night I tried connecting SkySafari 6 to my ASIair Plus to view the location the scope is pointing, It connected and I am pleased the SkySafari program could also control the Gemini II controller.
I am curious to know if it is better to connect both the ASIair and Sky safari independently to Sky Safari or:
Would it be better to connect to the ASIair Plus to the Gemini II controller, then connect SkySafari to the ASIair Plus.

While I was using it with SkySafari connecting to the ASIair Plus last night I found, after a minute or so the ASIair would disconnect from the mount and just pass thru the connection from Sky Safari.

In my experience Sky Safari was much more responsive to control the Gemini II, The ASIair Plus has a few additional features to control the mount.

I will appreciate any experiences from others with experience with this type of setup.

Thank You

aruckle Usually we recommend direclty connect Gemini II to ASIAIR.
May I know what command response is faster on Skysafari than on ASISAIR? thanks.

The Slewing functions from object to object are what stand out initially, while watching the icon of the position of the scope travel from start to stop.
The ASIair excels when the Plate solving is needed both to calibrate the mount alignment and align on the DSO or other object at the end of the slew.
The feature that makes the ASIair cumbersome is that while rough focus and moving the scope position manually, the time it takes to cycle the camera movement while making small adjustments to pointing the telescope to a chosen object, using the direction icons.

What it amounts to is real time visual feedback of where the telescope is pointing. much like the ASIair video mode which is limited to 1080 mode maximum.

You have a fantastic product and it is amazing that for $ 399, what you can do pretty well.

As I mentioned in my original post. having now connected my equipment to Ethernet it is amazing how much quicker things operate.

I am guessing there is a tradeoff when using a Raspberry Pi system to do so much.
