That is because the Window that you are opened to (with the exposure button) is related to the Main Camera, and you do not have a mian camera connected. Thus no exposure possible.
The guide camera has its own window.
To see images from a guide camera , enter the Guide window, and tap on the second icon from the top (looks like two arcs chasing their tails) in the column of buttons on the right to start streaming the guide frames:
