ASI2600 MM louder when using higher voltage ?

Hi to everyone !

I just tested my setup with 13V instead of the 12v power brick I’m using usually (because, why not) and I’ve noticed something different: Everything is working just fine: the AM5 mount, ASIAIR mini, USB hub, EFW and EAF. The camera is takes power from one ASIAIR MINI dc port. The camera also take images without any issue.

The only “strange” behavior is the fan of the camera that is now louder than with my usual 12v power brick. It seems like the increase of voltage have an impact on the the fan speed, air flow, (+ vibrations issues ?) and consequently the fan sound pitch that is clearly higher.

Do you think this could have an impact on the electronics of the camera and its lifespan ?

The fan power would be supplied at a constant 12VDC as long as the input power is >12VDC. The fan speed is controlled by the current flow throught the fan.

The only impact this will have is if you are shooting at long focal lengths like > 1500mm. There have been many reports (including my own experience) of ASI2600MM fan vibration creating elongated stars. Anyway, this won't have any impact on the electronics as long as you don't go over (I think) 16V.
