Hopefully this might help someone. I tried everything attempting to update AM5 HC Firmware. Failure time after time. The ASI Mount App>FIRMWARE only displayed "Get Data Failed". I DID successfully update the Mount (BUT NOT THE HC) using the ASCOM file method.
Here's how I finally got the ASI MOUNT APP to allow firmware upgrades and NOT show "Get Data Failed":
I turned on my iPHONE Hotspot to provide internet from the phone (bypassing my home wifi). Then using a separate device (in my case an iPad) I connected the iPad WIFI direct to the AM5 HC Wifi. Again, this bypasses my home wifi with a direct wifi connection from iPad to AM5 HC. I opened the ASI MOUNT app on the ipad and clicked the mount icon, then "AMH Management System". When that screen loads, click the NETWORK tab at the top. DESELECT your home wifi so it doesn't automatically connect (to your home wifi). Now you want to choose your phone's Hotspot as your connectionon that same page. At first my phone's hotspot WOULD NOT appear on the list of wifi choices no matter what I tried! The fix for that for me was to open Iphone settings, choose HOTSPOT and turn on MAXIMIZE CAPABILITY with the slider. This allowed the AM5 to finally see the phone's hotspot. Note that I also had the "Allow Others to Join" slider to on. Choose your phone's hotspot.
Now, back to my iPad showing the AM5 NETWORK tab I choose to connect to the phone's hotspot. Within 30 seconds the FIRMWARE tab changed from "Get Data Failed" to proper prompts to update firmware. I suspect that by using the phone's cellular internet I allowed port 4030 to be open, thus making the connection to ZWO.
Updating with a file over ASCOM worked great for the mount but NOT for the Hand Controller firmware. These steps finally did it. Hope I helped someone from the circus I conducted for 4 hours. 🙂
