Ascom Drivers

Hi all

First off, camera(ASI120mm) in WDM works great. Had a few minor issues in the begining but updating drivers and firmware sorted it out on my older Dell Latitude D630 running windows xp sp3; Core 2 Duo@2ghz w 2G ram. However I have installed both sets of ascom drivers and none will connect to use the ST4 port on the camera.

If I use the Ascom Diagnostics tool under chooser I can locate and select ASI ST4 Telescope driver but when I hit properties I get an error stating

"Driver setup method failed: "Ascom.Asist4.Telescope" The settings property 'CameraIndex' was not found.

Dispose

If I disconnect the camera and attempt to connect I get a dialog stating no camera detected, followed by what I am assuming is the driver window with a drop down for selecting a camera that is of course blank.

I have tried uninstalling everything including ascom, cleaning registry and reinstalling in the following order

Ascom Platform

ATI120MM Driver

Ascom Driver

I tried installing on 2 differing windows 7 machines and everything went wonderfully. However neither machine are going to work for my guiding needs either not powerfull enough or a desktop.

I should mention Ascom connects just fine to my Celestron driver and I can guide that way but would much rather have less cables running from laptop to mount.

Anyone have any Ideas?

just did a fast test on XP

it works well on XP too

please varify the 2 file under the ASCOM directory show in the image

you can delete them and reinstall the latest ASCOM driver if the version is different

Thanks for the response Sam, checked on the files as you suggested, versions matched up but I went ahead and deleted, then installed current from the website. Still has same response. Checked driver version of the camera under device manager, Version is 3.4.70.

To be on the safeside I unistalled the main drivers for the camera as well, deleted the drivers from c:\windows\drvstore and c:\windows\system32 reinstalled with the same results. One thing I did try if it tells you anything. Using the diagnostic tool for ascom, I connected to the driver without the camera connected and then connected the camera, after a brief pause I got an exception...

just tested another PC run on 32bit XP system and OK again

I think you may installed the old ASI SDK

newest ASCOM driver don't need to install the ASI SDK now

so you can remove it

I actually never "installed" the SDK, I had downloaded from the website but there was no installation procedure in that file, just a extracted zip file. I did remove it, unistall all the drivers and attempt to make sure there were no straggling files. This time I installed the camera, then the ASI ST4 Ascom driver and still unable to connect via Ascom. I am very open to teamview and I have sent you an email. Honestly posting here now strictly for posterity. Thanks again
