I realize that some problems are difficult (and in this case, most probably impossible) to decipher from afar; nevertheless, since I still consider myself a rank amateur, let me ask:
Equiptment: ASIAIR Plus; Askar Fra600 (at 420mm); ZWO 2400 mm pro camera; OAG with 117mm mini ZWO camera; AM5 mount; Electric from my house using two power sources, one to the mount, the other to the camera; using 3nm Oiii filter
- Two nights ago, everything went perfect (guiding <0.6; Polar alignment, 49 arc seconds). Not one problem
- Last night, nothing was changed (the scope was left outside from the previous night), however,
a. Excellent polar alignment
b. Guiding was not good, i.e., > 3.0 – 7.0
c. I did a firmware update
d. Also, very unusual, but my ASIAIR stopped recognizing my direct Ethernet connection (I couldn’t connect to my mount), at which point I switched to the ASIAIR’s Wifi, which did recognize the mount.
e. Once running with Wifi, my ZWO Auto focuser wouldn’t work (kept getting the message: “must be greater than zero and upper limit.” After a few reboots and connecting to Wifi, it worked again!
f. Interestingly, four hours into the session, the guiding produced perfectly round stars again
I’m afraid that I’m unable to interpret/make any sense of the log files (attached here). It just seems weird that things can go from great one night to crazy the next.
