Hello, I thought this was normal until I read that not everyone gets these guide spikes with their AM5.
I use my AM5 with an FF107, AAP, EAF, 290MM Guide camera, and Svbony 198 guide scope. Mt PA is spot on, always under 30", I point to the celestial equator to refocus the main scope and calibrate guiding. Then I slew to target and focus again and let it guide again. I consistently stay around .5-.7 arc seconds but throughout the night a few times a night, my guiding will spike and my dec /RA will jump up to 4-7 arc minutes. Sometimes it will settle on its own and other times I will need to turn off guiding and recalibrate.
What can be the cause and how do I fix it? The weather and skies are clear and I have had no wind whatsoever when this happens.
