If there is ever a successor to the S50, it would be great if it were as compact as the S50. I hardly have a unobstructed and free view in my city garden, to much houses and trees all around, it's hardly worth setting up one of my large telescopes. However, I can place the S50 with the small tripod perfectly on the chimney sweep exit on my roof and control it from inside. For me a successor should be similarly small and be able to stand on a narrow footprint. A higher resolution sensor and perhaps rotating to compensate for the field rotation would be great. You don't need more focal length, just a little more aperture.
