Why in the mount disconnect error message it states check network connection status? What does the Wi-Fi network have to do with the mount. ASIAir has a direct wired connection to the AVX mount’s hand controller via a USB2/USB Mini cable. I was testing last night at a 60 foot distance from my router. The Starlink device list showed the ASIAir was at about -71db which I know is weak. I was next to the ASIAir. I went through All Sky Polar Alignment, I slewed back to Home using the ASIAir mount command. I successfully GoTo two targets, plate solved and centered them. I started guiding with the 174MM and waited for the guiding to level out and no mount disconnects. I started a 120sec test image and just as the the ASIAir is about to load the new image then I go a mount disconnect. I restart the guiding and start a LIVE stack session for 120sec exposure for 1 hour. I get three images stacked then mount disconnect error. Again it the error appears when the image is being written or in the process of being refreshed on the iPad screen. This doesn’t happen when not guiding and using shorts exposures. So even if there is a weak signal and the speed between the ASIAir and the iPad is weak the ASIAir as a direct wired connection to the AVX mount. The last operation the ASIAir is performing should finish or continue operating even if the connection to the iPad is too weak. If I disconnect the USB2/USB mini cable from the bottom of the AVX hand controller I do not get a mount disconnect error message. The mount disconnect error message seems to occur more frequently when the Wi-Fi signal is weaker. Closer in I still get them but it takes longer the more imaging takes place but only when guiding is running. I could see if ASIAir was using a Wi-Fi signal to the AVX mount to control it but it’s not. I would expect if I started a LIVE stack for an hour and walked away with my iPad and was out of range and came back 50 minutes later and reconnected the Livestack would still be running for another 10 minutes.
I’ve written a bug report but I’m hoping other users might chime in with their experiences.
