Write location and 4gb write limit

I was recording video of Jupiter the other night (at 1080) and ran into a message saying the 4gb limit had been reached. I believe I was using AVI format.......I assume this is a limitation of the ASIAir since it is writing to the ASIAir device? If so, is there any workaround such as writing to a USB stick that is inserted into the ASIAir? I am assuming this is a 32-bit OS limitation somehow? If you select MP4 as the format, it writes to the iPad, so I guess that's a workaround
