Filter wheel and camera alignment

This is not a photo question but a mechanical question. I was in a twilight zone episode today. 😉. I changed out my zwo 36mm large filters with optolong 36mm today. No problem there. My camera has never lined up with its cable openings on the top as they were always at about 90deg position. I thought today I would remedy this and this is when I smelled cigarette smoke which meant Rod Serling must have been nearby. 😉. My camera screws directly to the filter wheel and no matter what position I started the camera to thread on it always results in the same position!! I tried every position. It is about 3 1/2 revolutions. I am totally baffled and embarrassed to ask this but has anyone else experienced this? I am college educated and retired military but I was totally flummoxed by this. Any guidance would be appreciated. My friends consider me (at least to my face) sane. 😉

Is there a spacer that would affect the starter thread to allow me to reposition the camera and not greatly affect back focus? If so what size and where could I get this? Thanks.

Which camera and filter wheel do you have ?
I attach a 2600MM to my ZWO filter wheel (7x36) by 4 screws from the wheel so can choose the orientation. Would that be possible for you?

No, I have the ver 1 efw and the asi1600mm pro so it does not have the holes to connect directly.

I think we have the same issue but I also think there is a fix, at least on my system. You should have an adapter that has male threads on both side since both the 2600 and the FW have female threads. So first, remove that adapter. Next remove the cover on the FW facing the 2600. Once off, you can now screw the cover directly to the 2600 and the holes line up perfectly. The you just need to reattach the cover to the FW assembly. If you use the OAG, then you do the same procedure twice, with the OAG positioned between the FW and the telescope (keeps the guider from losing signal from the filters).
