ZWO ASI120MM on HP Computer does not work

Hi: I have just acquired a ZWO ASI120MM camera. I downloaded the latest drivers. The computer is a HP Pavilion M6 with an AMD Processor running 64 bit Windows 7. It has 8GB of memory.

The drivers fail to install. The computer does not recognize the camera.

The dealer where I bought the camera tried to help, but we do not get any results.

I shall appreciate your help to get the camera working.

Some AMDs may make problems. What happens when the drivers are installing?

please post an snapshot of your device manager

you can try it in another computer

I will take a snapshot of the device manager. The drivers fail to install. I install the software and it seems ok. When I connect the camera to the USB port, the computer starts looking for the drivers. Then, when it finds the drivers and attempt to install them, it says that the driver "failed to install".

then I think a firmware update is needed

My ASI130mm has the same problem on my new laptop HP EliteBook. The camera works fine on me old 32bit system, but not on the new 64bitOS. I've followed the instructions from your troubleshooting page and re-installed the C++ Microsoft thing. Which was already installed, when I put the ASCOM drivers on the new laptop. I've had to check the box next to Microsoft.Net 3.5.1 which ASCOM requires for it to run on Windows 7 could this be a problem?

Every time I un-install re-install the driver I get the same messages as the OP. Plus the unmoveable yellow hazard triangle in the Device and Printers section.

I use the 130 as me guide camera so can use me old laptop until a solution is found.

you need to flash the compatible firmware to ASI130MM on your old computer to solve this problem.

but the new firmware is not as fast as the old one, but you can flash it back

I uninstalled the 130 driver from me old laptop and downloaded the Firmware onto the 32bit and ran the program. Then re installed the camera driver from your webpage, is this what you mean by flashing, I'm no computer wizard lol. The camera still works on me old laptop ( tested in PHD2). The driver still fails to install on the new laptop, even with the new firmware updated. Any other thoughts welcome.

Thank you Sam for your attention. Cameras working now. The problem seemed to be me using a USB3 port, which are on the left of me laptop, instead of the USB2 ports which are on the right. Driver loaded straight away no problems. This might help the OP too.
